Skilled Regional Visa (Subclass 887)

The Skilled Regional Visa (Subclass 887) is a permanent residency visa for individuals who have already lived and worked in regional Australia under an eligible skilled visa, such as Subclass 489 or Subclass 491.

This visa rewards skilled workers who have contributed to regional development by allowing them to transition from a temporary regional visa to full permanent residency in Australia without needing sponsorship, nomination, or a new skills assessment.

Who Can Apply

You may be eligible for the Subclass 887 Visa if you:

  • Have lived for at least 2 years in a designated regional area of Australia

  • Have worked full-time (at least 35 hours per week) for 12 months in a regional area

  • Hold or have previously held an eligible visa such as:

    • Skilled Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 489)

    • Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491)

    • Bridging Visa A or B, granted after applying for one of the above

  • Have complied with all conditions of your previous visa

  • Meet the health and character requirements set by the Department of Home Affairs
